Ecuador is a small country situated on the Pacific coast of South America, between Colombia and Peru. Ecuador straddles the equator, from which it takes its name. Its population is ethnically diverse with a majority of mixed-blood and indigenous people. An amazing biodiversity can be found in Ecuador, from snowy volcanoes to luscious vegetation in Amazonia.
