Studies abroad in Russia
Education Travel for Students and Adults
By far the largest country in the world, Russia dominates Europe with its immense size and diversity. Once communist, Russia is regarded as the heir of the former soviet union. Much has changed since the fall of the Iron Curtain in the late 90's along the disappearance of the USSR; today Russia is regarded as major world power both politically and economically. However, the standard of living for many Russian people is very much at odds with the rest of Europe, with the Russian middle class still among some of the poorest in Europe. Russia has a long and rich history that today is vividly evident in diversity of its peoples which comprises as many as 160 different ethnic groups. The country contains 23 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with many more on
the UNESCO tentative lists. It is renowned for its great natural variety as well as being home to many architectural marvels, which helps explain the popularity of long-distance travellers routs across the country, most notably the Trans-Siberian Railway. For the student of Russian, this means there are a multitude of opportunities to step outside and actually use your skills.
