International students in Chilliwack have the same extensive and diverse learning opportunities as local students. Students can choose their courses based on their personal learning goals, whether it's improving their English language skills, exploring various sciences, delving into the arts, pursuing recreational interests, or practically anything their heart desires, as the possibilities are almost endless.

Highlights of the Schools

Excellent science and mathematics programs, including a number of Advanced Placement (AP) courses that can earn students university credits.

Hundreds of computers in each school and campus-wide Wi-Fi access.

A strong humanities program that includes history, comparative civilizations, geography, creative writing, journalism, literature, advanced English courses, and of course, English and social sciences.

An emphasis on second language development with programs in French as a second language, French immersion, Spanish, Japanese, and German.

A highly sophisticated and challenging arts program, recognized as one of the strongest in the province, offering courses in painting (including oil and acrylic), photography, ceramics, graphic design, metalwork, jewelry making, and art history. Many students are admitted to highly reputable post-secondary art institutes. Several alumni of the Chilliwack School District are now recognized artists.

A highly successful music program that includes concert band, jazz band, concert choir, jazz choir, beginner and advanced guitar, music composition and technology, and our unique drumline. Our groups regularly achieve high honors at local, regional, and national music festivals and competitions.

A critically acclaimed performing arts program that includes drama, theatre, film and television, audiovisual media production, and dance courses. A major musical production is presented every year.

Career-oriented programs where students can participate in unpaid district-organized work experience placements in local businesses to earn additional credits. This is an excellent opportunity for students to "test drive" careers of interest.

Unique learning opportunities in peer counseling, teacher training, and leadership development.

Many school activities in the form of clubs and special events, often organized by students, invite all students to participate.

A comprehensive sports program including a wide range of recreational and team sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, swimming, rugby, field hockey, tennis, golf, athletics, cross country, curling, skiing, and snowboarding.

Over the years, Chilliwack secondary school teams have certainly earned their share of regional and provincial championships, and we always strive to be competitive but respectful participants.
