This program is ideal for young people who want to choose their school based on location, academic and sports preferences, as well as extracurricular activities offered. The advantage of this program is that it allows you to participate in artistic, sports (including competitions), and other extracurricular activities as well.
We offer a wide range of destinations throughout the United Kingdom (London, Bristol, West Sussex, Edinburgh, Cardiff, etc.). The choice of school can be based on location as well as desired courses or sports. With over fifty destinations available, we can help you select a school that matches your preferences and interests.
You will stay with a host family in a single or shared room with a participant from a different nationality than yours. You will receive half-board from Monday to Friday (breakfast and dinner) and full board on weekends, during holidays, and on public holidays.

1. Gather Information:
Visit us directly at one of our agencies, attend a fair, or contact us via email or phone. We are available to discuss and assist you in setting up your project.
2. Candidate Selection:
Prior to your enrollment, we will verify with you if all the admission requirements for the High School program are met. We will also assess your English language level to ensure it meets the admission criteria.
3. Registration:
Ready to enroll? Complete the registration form or print it and send it back to us by email, fax, or mail, along with a deposit of 2,000 CHF or 1,700 EUR for J1 USA programs, and 1,300 CHF or 1,000 EUR for all other High School programs. We will contact you to confirm your registration.
4. AILS File:
Once your registration is recorded by our services, we will contact you to complete your online file (personal information, academic results, medical records, etc.). Our advisors will take care of these procedures, and they will regularly contact you to ensure that your file progresses smoothly and is in order.
5. Acceptance:
After receiving your complete file, we usually receive your acceptance within an average of 2 weeks. The search for your host family is then initiated.
It may take some time before the placement date is confirmed, which could be close to your departure date (especially for the High School Standard program). But don't worry, this is the normal procedure in such cases. Our advisors rigorously follow up on your file and provide you with information as it is received.
* Host Family: We visit potential host families and interview their members to better assess their capacity and motivation to host a student. At the end of this step, once the family is accepted, they are free to choose the student they want to host. This approach contributes to ensuring a successful placement.
* School: You will be placed in a local school and follow the same secondary education curriculum as local students. Depending on the country where you reside, the range of subjects available may vary.
6. Approaching Departure:
We will assist you in preparing your file, guide you through the visa application process, arrange medical insurance (if necessary), and also book your plane tickets upon request. A few weeks before your departure, you will be invited to our "Hit the Road!" day during which we will discuss your project and provide you with all the keys to a successful year! You will also receive your student pack (orientation manual, insurance, travel documents, AILS bag, list of things to bring, etc.).
7. Your Year:
Throughout your stay, your local contact person and our AILS advisors will be available to answer any questions. Additionally, we take the initiative to contact you at regular intervals to check on your well-being.
On-site, depending on the country, coordinators occasionally organize activities (BBQ, pizza nights, swim parties, excursions, etc.) to allow participants to meet each other.
Become an "AILS AMBASSADOR": Every year, voluntary students share their international experience with the world via Facebook, Twitter, or email. If you are interested in becoming one of them, please let us know!
8. On-Site Support:
Since its establishment 20 years ago, AILS has emphasized the quality of its programs. And for us, quality includes supporting students before and especially during their stay!
Whether you participate in a High School Standard or High School Flex program, whether you go to the United States, Canada, or Germany, you will be assigned a local supervisor. This person will be there to answer all your questions, help you resolve any concerns or issues you may face. They will be your reference person during your stay.
An emergency hotline from the host organization is also available 24/7.
AILS is, of course, at your disposal as well as that of your parents throughout your stay!
9. Afterward:
Upon your return, we will contact you to discuss your experience. Every year, we invite our students to share their experiences during our information and preparation meetings and at the professional fairs we participate in. These meetings are also an opportunity to have a friendly gathering and share your adventure with future American students!
AILS also offers university programs. Don't hesitate to contact us or request our brochure "Study Abroad at Universities".
