The ELS center is located on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, south of Nashville. MTSU is renowned for its aerospace, business, communication, and recording industry courses and is the largest university in the state. ELS students will have the opportunity to choose from various English course options. Being situated on a campus, students will have the privilege of interacting with American students. The English teachers are all qualified and specialized in teaching English to non-native speakers.
Three English learning programs are offered by the school:
"American Explorer": Ideal program for those who want to do a language internship for a few weeks. The program includes 15 lessons of 50 minutes per week, in the morning from Monday to Friday. This program emphasizes oral skills (speaking and listening comprehension).
Standard English Course: Allows you to combine English study with exploring the region. The program includes 20 lessons of 50 minutes per week, taught in the morning. This allows you to have afternoons free to visit the city and its surroundings.
Intensive English Course: Allows you to take 30 lessons of 50 minutes per week, with four lessons in the morning and two in the afternoon. The morning classes focus primarily on oral and written comprehension and expression, while the afternoon classes are designed to practice new knowledge.
Homestay: You stay in a single room with a shared bathroom. Breakfast and dinner are provided every day. Host families are located about 20 minutes away from the school by public transportation.
University Ridge Apartments (off-campus): You have a single room in a shared apartment, with a bathroom, equipped kitchen, internet access, and television. Meals are not included, but you have the option to purchase a meal card for the campus cafeteria. The school is five minutes away from the residence.
Campus Crossings Apartments: You have a single room with a private bathroom in a shared apartment with three other students. Meals are not included, but you have a fully equipped kitchen and a free shuttle to the supermarket. Additionally, the residence features a swimming pool, jacuzzi, game room, and computer room for leisure activities.
The city of Nashville will surprise you with its many facets. It has been declared by Travel & Leisure magazine as the friendliest city in the United States. With its 15 museums, recording studios, and the Gaylord Entertainment Center, you won't have time to get bored. Add to that amusement parks, lakes, sports events, and visits to the famous Jack Daniel's distillery or Elvis' house in Memphis, and your stay will be packed with activities. You will also have access to campus facilities such as the gym, tennis court, running track, fitness room, climbing wall, library, computer room, as well as concerts, theater, and various sporting events.
