For linguistic stays for teenagers and children in any of the countries within the European Union, a passport is not mandatory. However, young people must possess a valid National Identity Card.
Permission to leave the national territory is not mandatory for Swiss minors traveling alone abroad. However, it is recommended to avoid any misunderstandings.
This document can be written on plain paper and must clearly mention the following:
Name, first name, address, and date and place of birth of the person who has custody of the child
Name, first name, address, and date and place of birth of the child
Dates and duration of the trip
Statement authorizing your son/daughter to leave the Swiss territory for the duration of the trip
Signature of the person having custody of the child
All minors traveling alone must have an entry authorization for the United Kingdom or Ireland. There is a specific form called "Consent to Travel," which we will send to you after registration. This document must be completed, signed by the person(s) responsible for the minor, and brought along with other travel documents in case of customs inspection.
Minors traveling alone to Canada require an official guardian on the territory. For this, we will need complete parental and student identity information to complete the "Custodianship" document.
The school will then complete the document with the information of the designated guardian on-site to represent the students and have the first page notarized for an official signature. You will need to have the second page notarized on your side to confirm your agreement.
This document may be requested by a customs agent upon arrival.
For travel outside the European Union (including the United Kingdom), young people must possess a valid passport, regardless of their age.
| ATTENTION | Some countries, particularly the USA, require the passport to be valid for up to 6 months beyond the planned date of departure from the American territory. Please ensure that you verify this well in advance to allow enough time for necessary adjustments to your arrangements.
