The King's School, where the classes take place, is one of the most prestigious schools in England. The St Giles English language school is located within magnificent buildings dating back to the medieval era. The program takes place on the grounds of the famous Canterbury Cathedral and St. Augustine's Abbey, making it a unique experience. The language school has modern facilities within a historic setting. Sports facilities are available at the King's School, and the site is just a 10-minute walk from the city center.
Students have the opportunity to stay in the residence located directly on the grounds of St. Augustine's Abbey, just a 5-minute walk from the classrooms. Single, double, triple, and quadruple rooms with shared bathrooms are available. All meals are served on the school premises, and packed lunches or meal vouchers are provided during excursions. St Giles staff are present 24/7 during the program to ensure supervision and support.
The language stay includes 20 English lessons per week in groups of 12 students. Teachers will cover various topics focusing on communication and comprehension to help students improve their language skills. Activities and excursions will be organized throughout the language stay. Participants will have two full-day excursions per week to explore neighboring cities such as London, Cambridge, Hastings, or Brighton, as well as two half-day excursions per week. Each week follows a thematic approach, which may revolve around topics such as the environment, media, sports and well-being, international themes, and more.
To enhance the program, students can choose from four optional activities to combine language learning with sports or arts:
Tennis: 5 hours per week of training over two afternoons with professionals to improve their skills and learn about the specifics of the sport.
Fencing: 5 hours per week of fencing lessons to explore the art of fencing with a coach from the British Olympic fencing team.
Performing Arts: 5 hours per week for students interested in practicing English through theater and dance. This option is available at no additional cost.
Speaking & Writing: 5 hours per week focused on practical language skills such as creative writing, public speaking, and scriptwriting. This option is available at no additional cost.
